THE PRIDE KAM: WEAR THEM PROUD (AND A LITTLE BIT LOUD).

In honor of LGBTQ Pride Month, we’ve created a custom version of the iconic Kam sneaker.

As a brand, we’ve been supporting equal rights for the LGBTQ community since 1993. Proudly partnering with the Human Rights Campaign on diverse projects to promote this cause has become an integral part of our heritage. For our latest initiative, launching the Pride Kam sneaker during LGBTQ Pride Month in support of the HRC, we’re once again highlighting the importance of equal rights for all. The rainbow stripe update on the back of our most popular Kam shoe is a proud (and a little bit loud) detail to show our continued support—and an opportunity for our customers to do the same.

The campaign for this sneaker features gay and lesbian couples, and a transgender man and his girlfriend, who all live in New York City. They were photographed by Levi Jackman Foster – a Courageous Class member from our Spring ’17 campaign and an artist and activist who uses provocative portraiture and imagery to bring attention to (and raise funds for) human rights.

The couples he photographed were made up of a group of determined individuals, all using their voices to stand up for what they believe is right and sharing their personal stories to inspire others. “It’s not that now is a more important time to speak up. It’s always been important to speak up, and we forgot that,” said James Whiteside, one of the models from the shoot and a principal dancer in the American Ballet Theater. “I believe this generation growing up right now with this administration will be the most politically active generation in recent history, and I think we’re in for some really beautiful revelations.”

The Pride Kam sneaker is now available online and at our Bond + Bowery store for $125.

As a special addition to the campaign, we commissioned Colossal Media to paint a mural of Foster's photographs from the shoot. The wall will live for the entire month of June in Williamsburg on the corner of Wythe and North 15th Street.
