TRUST ME, I’M A NEW YORKER: Sofia Karvela

Taking a moment to ask real New Yorkers real New York questions.

Sofia Karvela, NYC-based stylist

Taxi or Uber?

Juno, baby.

NY Times or NY Post?

Vogue.com

Central Park or Hudson Park?

Hudson Park.

Would you rather a walk-in closet or outdoor space?

I finally have a walk-in closet. So I’ll remain excited about that for a while. Even though my clothes always end up living on the bathroom floor. I know, classy and very grown up of me.

Whole Foods or Trader Joe’s?

Depends how much money I made that month.

Starbucks or bodega coffee?

As long as it’s a triple shot, I’m happy.

Better mural: The Monkey Bar or The Waverly?

I’m a long-time Waverly fan and frequent attendee.

Tap or bottled water?

Filtered.

Street meat or a slice?

Pie.

Would you rather Standard Bingo or a Rose Bar Session?

Um, park playdate with my kids and SoHo House brunch as a treat.

Pedicure or massage?

Both, but only when I begin to look homeless. Like, really homeless.

First snow or first spring day?

Spring—the kind of day when you can wear a leather jacket and a tee underneath.

More magical: The streets at dusk or the streets at dawn?

Dawn. So much peace when most people are still sleeping.

More iconic: The Empire State Building or The Chrysler?

Chrysler forever. It looks futuristic with a vintage vibe, and reminds me of something I’ve always known, but still excites me as if I’ve never seen it before.

For modern art: The MoMA or The Whitney?

Probably Barneys. I know, groundbreaking.

Brooklyn Bridge or Williamsburg Bridge?

The Line looking at all the things I can't afford.

Boozy brunch or late-night dinner?

Snacking all day.

Scarier thought: A falling air conditioner or falling into an open sidewalk cellar?

Don’t freak me out. I’ve got two little boys.

More likely to people watch or dog watch?

Same thing, sort of.
