Casil is a male model, singer, activist, and artist who is transgender. Coming from a small town in Colorado, Casil started modeling as a girl at age 10 in Singapore and Los Angeles. At the age of 16, after visiting all of the women’s modeling agencies in New York, Casil felt he couldn’t live as a female anymore and made his final decision to transition from female to male, officially changing his name to “Casil McArthur." Several months later, he was signed to Soul Artist Management and started his career as a male model.
His first photoshoot was for Interview magazine. Shortly after that, he was introduced to esteemed photographer Collier Schorr. Over the span of a year, Collier shot Casil for 40 pages, including the cover of RE:edition Magazine, Another Man Magazine, Milk Makeup cosmetics and a Saint Laurent campaign. Casil then met Steven Meisel, who shot him for Vogue Italia and a 20-page feature story in W magazine. The next landmark job for Casil came in December 2016 when Casil walked his first show as a male in the Coach 75th anniversary fashion show in New York City.
When he is not modeling, Casil enjoys being back home in Estes, Colorado, spending time with friends and working as a barista in the Stanley Hotel. Today he is setting his sights on his next goals, with his focus on trans rights. He hopes to be a role model for trans teens, especially those transitioning from male to female. To date, he is the only female-to-male trans model of note in the business.
“I feel that everybody in their life
comes to a point where they need to transition to who they really are as a person.”
